THE most important person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral - a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby's body. The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God's creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation. What on God's good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?

"...in May of 1995, at a public address by Alfons Cardinal Stickler on the subject of the Traditional Latin Mass...in response to Father Gruner's written question, the Cardinal revealed to the audience that in 1986 a group of nine Curial Cardinals assembled by Pope John Paul II himself, all with doctorates in Canon Law, had voted 8-1, in closed session, that Pope Paul VI had never actually ordered the suppression of the Traditional Mass, and that its celebration had never ceased to be entirely permissible under Church law. Incredibly, the Pope had been unable to determine just what his predecessor had ordered in promulgating the New Mass. In fact, the actual suppression of the Traditional Mass had been accomplished entirely through the decrees of Vatican congregations and commissions, and not by any explicit Magisterial act of Paul VI. As the vote of the Cardinals made clear, bureaucrats had obliterated the entire liturgical tradition of the Roman Rite without a single actual order of the Pope suppressing it! Thus has the Catholic Church been governed for the past several decades."

Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ... Venerable Pope Pius IX 'We thought that after the Council a day of sunshine would have dawned for the history of the Church. What dawned, instead, was a day of clouds and storms, of darkness, of searching and uncertainties.' --Pope Paul VI "No man survives when freedom fails, the best men rot in filthy jails, and those who cry appease, appease are hanged by those they tried to please." -- Hiram Mann (Holy Week)...her Son who so vehemently desires the world's salvation, lead her, a second time, to pronounce the solemn FIAT: she consents to the immolation of her Son. -- The Liturgical Year (vol. 6, p175) "Lex orandi, lex credendi"-- as we pray, so do we believe... A vocation comes from the heart of God, but goes through the heart of the mother. -- Saint Pope Pius X Every society stands in need of laws; the Church, therefore, will not be long (from its birth) without giving outward proof of her internal government. -- The Liturgical Year, Vol. 8, page 159 (Paschal Time, Thursday of the Third Week) Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends. -- John 15.13 If any good is to be accomplished, it must be born of suffering. -- Sister Miriam Teresa It is certain that, when the death of Christ is carried about in the soul, sin cannot reign in it. -- Origen It is necessary not only that religious instruction be given to the young at certain fixed times, but also that every other subject taught, be permeated with Christian piety. -- Pope Pius XI, Divini Illius Magistri Many stay a long time in purgatory who, although not great sinners, have lived tepidly. -- Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich Remember, O man, that thou art dust, and into dust thou shalt return! Genesis 3:19 The first step towards knowledge is to know that we are ignorant. The purpose of an open mind, like that of an open mouth, is to close on something. The real question is when, not whether, to close it. -- Chesterton The true Catholic is the traditionalist. -- St. Athanasius, Father and Doctor of the Church This is the day which the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. -- Gradual, Easter Mass You must know that sin can be committed in three ways. It is done either in ignorance, in weakness, or of set purpose. -- Pope Saint Gregory the Great A vocation comes from the heart of God, but goes through the heart of the mother. -- Saint Pope Pius X The true Catholic is the traditionalist. St. Athanasius Carry your crosses well, and bear wrongs patiently. "Without tribulations few will reach Heaven" -- Revealations of Saint Bridget of Sweden Even if Catholics faithful to tradition are reduced to a handful, they are the ones who are the true Church of Jesus Christ. -- Saint Athanasius Rome will lose the faith and become the seat of Antichrist. -- Our Lady of La Salette, 1846 Obedience is not to be used as a weapon against doctrine, but a virtue in support of it. And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the people -- Luke 2:10 RestOnHisWord.com
